ending notes

I have been carrying a cello around
with my daughter since she was in fifth grade
she will whisk it off to college this fall without me

I'm OK with that...today...

Interesting the way you have captured the movement. You might not miss lugging the cello but I am sure you will miss its music.

JE this was taken during a "warm up" session before an audition...I was trying to go unnoticed as I snapped them in low light ...

oh my - what a feeling - I can't even imagine it yet ELK - how fast they do grow and only 5 years in for me.

auditions...they frightened me so!

How proud you must be! I love the way the bow movement in the second photo seems furious and intense.

I like the movement. I've always wanted to play a stringed instrument.

Wow, these are GREAT action shots! Glad to hear she's keeping it up in college.

Life moves on...When our older kids moved out, the phone stopped ringing (that was before cell phones) and the piano stopped playing (until the others picked it up). Now I get to hear the piano again when they come to visit.

Yes. Missing the music. I miss our youngest's singing. And the music she listens to. Home for Spring Break - soon. Yippee! Lovely photos of cello and daughter, strings and hands.

I never worry about musicians—they have such focus and stamina. She'll be fine, but you are allowed a moment or two of worry if it ever creeps in.

oh my! for some reason, i have had memories recently of some past posts of gorgeous cello pics on your blog & i am thrilled to see more...along with your poignant words. this is truly a WOW post.

It's a huge transition for you both. Though it's not the same, you might enjoy the old movie, "Truly, Madly, Deeply," a poignant story about a woman's life after the death of her musician-husband.

I do so love these motion filled images, or should i say emotion filled,
love in the hands of the photographer who took them and love in the hands of your daughter as she plays, beautiful

Before my youngest left, I asked him to make a CD of him playing the piano. I miss hearing him play. He never did. Did he think I was kidding? But now he sends me snippets of his music and I love it.

you captured the shattered feeling with your camera.

amazing.

three of my children are musicians and i cannot
express how much i not only miss them but
their music.

beautiful. beautiful. beautiful.

I did not take my flute with me when I left home. For a while, I wished I did (but it was in use at home), but it's not really the instrument that I would play on my own. I'd like to take up the drums or guitar someday.

Lovely photos. It will be a time of growth and change for both of you.

i had no trouble with the older kids going off, but youngest baby boy, it's killing me. two years into college and i am still adjusting. he, on the other hand, has flourished, without me. lol.
