bought a lovely Yaupon holly
set it up and decided to decorate the next day

my daughters friend bought a christmas tree at the lot and came home, decorated it... then noticed tiny spots on her presents. the tree had been full of tick eggs and when she warmed it up the eggs hatched; thousands of ticks all over her presents.
yours has a happier ending!

It's definitely a beautiful tree! Haha - nature has her way of 'existing' even when we've chosen another. So you will have a beautiful outside Christmas tree. You can't imagine the number of tiny spiders I find in the wood when I first start working with it. Merry Christmas Elk...

The little holly berries are very pretty, shame about the ants.

Ants are better than ticks! Love your happy ending, too.

Hmmm, it's so beautiful anyway. I hope you found another for indoors.

ooo ticks, ants??? i guess i'll take the hand-me-down plastic tree my mother unloaded on me...never thought in my entire life i'd have a fake tree...i must admit...it's nice to realize, as i'm driving off, that it is okay that i forgot to turn the lights off..

merry christmas!! your tree is beautiful!!

after we (my husband!) took our holly outside the old standby came down form the attic...the holly is happier in the garden anyway

I've had bats. You've had ants. The year of the pests!

That's one happy looking tree, indoors or out.

Ha! I've done the let's-bring-these-berries-in-the-house thing too, with similarly disappointing results. It's pretty though!

yikes
an outdoor tree is good and yours is so pretty with it's natural red ornaments. decorate it with additional ornaments of pinecones and peanut butter and the birds will love you for it. ; )

Yikes -- ants? We don't see those in December in NYS! As always, your photos are a welcome and bright spot of color. Have a wonderful holiday.

This is so lovey either way--in or out! Our flight was cancelled due to bad snowy weather on the east coast... so we are waiting for a new flight on Wednesday... Stopping by to say hi while we wait...LOL! Happy Holidays, Elk!

That made me laugh out loud. Sorry. I'm sure you were a little less than amused initially.

Reminds me of a certain Christmas carpet staining incident with fresh cranberry garland. The part Martha forgot to mention.

Oh gosh.....gives me the weebie-jeebies!
That's one good thing about the cold we have....no bugs!!

Oh dear! I know someone who had hundreds of flies hatch out of their live pine tree...after it got inside...ugh.

Outside, your tree is lovely! :)

I know, sometimes I feel bad having a plastic tree, too, but I guess it beats the laternative. When we used to get a real tree, I always worried about bugs on it even though I never saw any.

Oh no! But I bet is was beautiful while it lasted in the house.

Too funny. Sorry, but I am laughing just picturing the dismay on your face when you came across a small army of ants.
