Ah, Elk-- I have missed your blog. Life is slowing, and now I get to gaze on your photos. Thanks for keeping the focus on small things. Your pictures make me happy!
for some strange reason they remind me of little green aliens. remind here is probably the wrong word as i've never quite met little green aliens... ;) But always associate this type of cacti with little green beings from another planet. i'm a strange girl...

Oh, this is lovely. It looks so beautiful and interesting. I don't have a chance to see this in private. Thanks for sharing.
And shades of green...
Who knew young thorns could be so beautiful?
Loving your captures of Mother Nature.
I haven't seen cacti since I liked in Arizona. these look like they have soft prickers though.
Wow, I never saw cacti looking so lush! Thanks :)
I often wonder how something so sharp and dangerous can bring about a mood of calm and relaxation. I always feel calm when I look at cactus.

Puna, these soft needles will not always be this way! As the weeks go by they will change into the needles that we are accustomed to seeing. elk

Wow! These cacti are so fresh and new looking! I've never seen them like that. Very beautiful!
The close up looks like something that would be found in a coral reef - where's Nemo?
fascinating!
Very cool. I haven't really looked at cacti before. Not really arid in Florida ;)
They look like big paws with spiky, curvy claws poking out from everywhere. Imagine what threads they'd pull, marching across bolts of silk.
ps I love your blog and have linked it to mine so I'll know whenever you post. Found you from a comment you made on a friend's blog.
I don't think I have ever seen cacti in this soft stage...newborn thorns!
I haven't seen cacti like this in such a long time. Will these get blossoms? Love the different shades of green on the same plant.
