“If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
however measured or far away.”
Thoreau

Yes, I've always loved that quotation. :) Beautiful photos, and I love your shoe peeking out...
You have an awesome job.
I thought about doing Kindermusik, but I can't sing my way out of a bucket!
Nice effect on the piano... at first I thought the rythm sticks were overly preserved jerky sticks...
I'm sure glad you said what those rhythm - they looked like long skinny, red-skinned hot dogs or jerky sticks, like MaryAnn said. Great photos and I really like the processing you did on the piano. I play around like that, but usually revert back to a more natural state.
I've really got to learn to proofread before I publish a comment - rhythm "sticks".
Happy thoughts, indeed!
Even though I have no music ability whatsoever, music can always make me happy too.
i have no musical talent what-so-ever - i greatly admire those that do. I imagine hearing little children's musical talent emerge is so rewarding for you.
love the piano photo
I'd recognize those lummi sticks anywhere --lol! I used to teach elementary school music for 10 years before I had my two little ones.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for your kind comment. I enjoyed my visit to yours.

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog...it's so nice to "meet" you.
For most of my life I felt out of step with everyone else and it wasn't until many, many years later that I learned the music that I heard was just as valid and true and that which everyone else heard...just different.
Thanks for sharing your happiness!
This quote is so true for me. I have always been much more shy and introspective than most people I know. Many people don't understand this.
i love this! you can always expect something good from a Thoreau quote! i identify with music making you happy. without it, life would seem colorless!
I thought they were sticks of sidewalk chalk. :)
I love the effect on the piano.
Great quote too. I should remember that.
yes- that is a great quote, so easy to forget. thank you for reminding me!
(i miss my sister's piano playing :)
i started piano lessons this year, although i am an adult and it has brought a whole new dimesnion to my life.
since i was a little girl, i have known that i hear a different song to most. i enjoy my difference though and i get very upset when other individuals do not dare to live out their own.
this also reminds me of my current favourite movie: "august raphsody".
thank you for this inspiration.
I almost thought, for a minute, those rhythm sticks were hotdogs...
Absolutely wonderful quote! We all beat to a different drum and how wonderful that is! I got caught the other day loudly tapping my foot to music. Good thing they didn't catch me singing! I can keep beat, just can't carry a tune.
Wonderful happy photos on your blog. Love the piano! Thanks for stopping by mine and introducing me to your wonderful views!
oh yes.....that quote needs to be in big letters in my house !!!
I still want to know more about teaching rhythm and movement. Do tell.
ahh it is definitely ME...HDT quote is one of my all time favorites! So nice to have you visit I need to add you to my list so I can come back when I'm not so tired and dive into your posts!
